Anglican Diocese of Lake Rukwa has concentrated its work in three major areas;
MISSION AND EVANGELISM:
This encompasses church planting and Christian nurturing. As a result of evangelism/gospel outreach, the church membership has increased from about 2500 Christians when the Diocese was established to approximately 6500 Christians. There is also a substantial increase in stewardship and accountability.
We are focusing on serving orphans and other vulnerable children, and on environment conservation projects such as bee keeping which generate income and lead to community empowerment. The church also seeks to be involved in the promotion and provision of health and education services. The goal of the church is to enable community members to become self-sufficient and enjoy a reasonable standard of living.
Through providing civic education on peacemaking and conflict resolution, good governance, human rights and Gender Equality.
DLR has been in the forefront of facilitating church growth through church planting and nurturing existing churches with the objective of strengthening the role of the church as an agent of change. Activities directed towards Christian nurture include Bible studies, weekly fellowship groups and other meetings. The church hopes to build its capacity by training its leaders through seminars, extension programs, a Mobile Bible School and by sending promising individuals to Bible Schools and colleges within Tanzania and further afield.
